Dulaang UP’s second offering for its 40th Theatre Season is William Shakespeare’s King Lear and its new Filipino translation by Nicolas Pichay, Haring Lear. The play, considered by critics as Shakespeare’s greatest tragedy, is directed by DUP Founding Artistic Director, Professor Emeritus Tony Mabesa.

The play is set in the waning years of a Southeast Asian kingdom replete with appropriate music, movement, costumes, and properties of the region without losing the themes, images, and poetry of the playwright’s supreme achievement. King Lear | Haring Lear is the epitome of how deceit and the love for the superficial can tragically bring families to ruin and great kingdoms to ashes.

The star-studded cast includes Joel Lamangan, Leo Rialp, Jojo Cayabyab, Jeremy Domingo, Jacques Borlaza, Guelan Luarca, Frances Makil-Ignacio, Gilleth Sandico, Martha Comia, and Astarte Abraham to name a few.

The artistic staff is composed of Ohm David (set design), Eric Pineda (costume design), Meliton Roxas (lighting design), Jethro Joaquin (sounds design), Arnel Paguyo (property design), Jeremy Dela Cruz (movement & choreography), Patrick Ortaliza and Juan Gonzales(dramaturgy) and John Mark Yap (assistant direction).

You Can Now Ride A Segway While Playing Golf At Intramuros

It's more fun playing golf at Club Intramuros these days because golfers can now ride a Segway while doing their 18 holes. 

Intramuros golf course, also known as Club Intramuros, is a public course with a short length (par 66, 4,326 yards).  The club (which was established in 1907) is located in the heart of Manila and can be played in just over two hours, which makes it ideal for business people looking for a quick round of golf.

With the use of a Segway, the round can even be much quicker.

Prior to playing golf on a Segway, one will be trained by the Segway staff on how to use the equipment properly. 

The Club Intramuros golf course surrounds Fort Santiago, in the heart of historic Old Manila.

Negros Trade Fair listed among Top 3 Fairs in Makati City

The Negros Trade Fair which is held annually in Makati, Metro Manila, is now considered as one of the top three fairs to attend in terms of art, culture, and design.  A Makati journal, Makati360.com, which features all about and around Makati City, named the top three annual fairs for art and design in Makati as Art Fair Philippines, Art In The Park, and The Negros Trade Fair.

The Art Fair happens in February, Art In The Park in April, and the Negros Trade Fair in September.
