DAVAO, Philippines - The province of Negros Occidental bagged three grand prizes at the 10th ATOP-DOT Pearl Awards, held in conjunction with the 16th Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP) Convention at the SMX Convention Center in Lanang, Davao.


The three grand awards were:

Best Tourism Week Celebration, Grand Winner : Tourism Month Negros Occidental

Best Tourism-Oriented LGU, Grand Winner : LGU Negros Occidental

Best Tourism Event/Festival, Grand Winner : Panaad sa Negros Festival



The other awards won by other municipalities and cities within Negros included Sagay for Best Practices in Community-Based Responsible Tourism – All Levels, and Grand Winner for
Nature of Responsible Tourism Intervention.

Silay copped awards for Best Practices in Community-Based Responsible Tourism – Enterprise : Hda. Adela Folklore Village;  Sustaining Culture & Tourism, Second Runner Up;
1st Runner Up for Best Practices in Community-Based Responsible Tourism – Heritage Silay City Heritage Conservation; 2nd Runner Up for Best Tourism Week/MonthCelebration Silay Tourism Month; 1st Runner Up for Best Practices in Community-Based Responsible Tourism – All Levels for Ikaw-Ako Foundation.

Pulupandan bagged  Second Runner Up for the
Best Tourism Event, for Bird and Dolphin Watching; while Sipalay bagged First Runner Up for the Best Tourism Event, for its Tourism Kite Festival.

City of Bago also won
Second Runner Up for the Best Tourism Event – Festival,  for its Babaylan Festival.






Negros Occidental Bags Three Grand Prizes In ATOP-DOT Pearl Awards

DAVAO, Philippines - The province of Negros Occidental garnered a number of awards tonight at the 10th ATOP-DOT Pearl Awards, held in conjunction with the 16th Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP) Convention at the SMX Convention Center in Lanang, Davao.

Among the awards won for the province were Best Festival in the Country for Panaad sa Negros as awarded by the Dilliman Preparatory School.  Also bagged were 2nd Runner Up in the Best Tourism Event, Festival Category by Bago City; 2nd Runner Up for Best Adventure Tourism Event by Pulupandan, and 1st Runner Up by Sipalay.



The highlight award for Negros was First Place Best Tourism Event Festival Category for the "Panaad sa Negros".

DAVAO, Philippines - The delegates to the 16th National Convention of the Association of Tourism Officers in the Philippines (ATOP)  arrived in Davao City the other day for yesterday's big-bang opening at the SMX Convention Center, Lanang.

Tourism officers, tourism council members, and tourism private stakeholders from Luzon to Mindanao gathered yesterday to begin discussions on areas of improvement and boost the tourist destinations int he country.

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte attended the formal opening of the event to welcome visitors in Mindanao who dressed in their traditional/cultural attire.

The Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) Davao program of the City Tourism Operation Office (CTOO) will also be launched during the three-day convention. One of the highlights of the program is its partnership with airline company, Air Asia.

"This is only one of the initiatives of the city to push for a sound tourism and to attract businessmen and travelers to go here", said CTOO officer-in-charge Lisette Marques.

Other topics included during the convention are the world tourism theme in the Philippine context and greening the tourism value chain. A speaker form Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia will talk about Islamic and Halal tourism.

16th National Convention of the Association of Tourism Officers in the Philippines Kicks Off in Davao

DAVAO, Philippines - The Tourism Officers Of Negros Island Region came in early today for the second day of the 16th Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines Convention at SMX in Lanang, Davao.

Yesterday, the ATOP had no less than the highest public employee of the city, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, to welcome the Tourism Officers who jetted in from all parts of the country.
